Synopsis

This novel is about Mikhail Lukeshenko who was born in Belarus. When he completed his studies, he was registered, totally against his wishes, to study Atomic, Hydrogen and Nuclear Power. The name of this faculty, however, was nothing but a facade to prepare the students for the Soviet Intelligence Service. He was sent to Smolensk University where he was obliged to undergo military training, wholly in contradiction to his own career choices. When he had met the criteria of spy (a reluctant one), he was seconded to the Hungarian Embassy in Paris. There he was persuaded by the American Secret Service to switch allegiance to them. Smuggled into the USA, he became an American citizen and changed his name to Mike Lewis. He was then sent back to Paris on an American diplomatic passport. Once there, Mike Lewis recruited a person who worked in the nuclear plant in Peronne, built by the Soviet Union and the French, and he was able to send priceless information to his handler in the USA.
