another brilliant piece of writing buy james, i just love how he lets your imagination play with you at the end.

This is very silly but it is entertaining in it's way. The plot is ridiculous and characterisation is very minimal but it cracks along and is gruesome enough to make this decent creature feature. The writing is okay, the general stuff like the attacks are well done but as I say the characters are fairly flat. Still an entertaining read though.

This book isn't bad, please don't misunderstand: it just might not be what you expect. This book isn't a crime thriller, it's more of a sci-fi environmental thriller. It's a good story and is backed up with a lot of science, but I did find myself getting bored as I read it because I found the first half of the book a bit uneventful and uninteresting. The introduction really pulled me in though, with its gruesome descriptions and tense events that foreshadow the mayhem and death to come later...but the pace really slowed down after that and it took me a lot of effort to get into. I'm also not very fond of the writing style - I found it too informal and quite light on the details - but if you're a James Patterson fan I'd say to give it a go. The book was a lot better further in when the action really begins, but the writing style really put me off. Although, there are moments that really got my flesh crawling, which is why I'm rating 'Zoo' three stars and not two. I'd recommend it if you are a fan of the author and if you like science fiction/thrillers.

Zoo by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge is a standalone thriller that was originally published in 2012. This is not a crime thriller as such but more of an environmental thriller but please do not let that put you off reading this thriller. Jackson Oz has dropped out of his PhD programme to focus more on the HAL problem the world is facing but the only problem nobody is listening. Animals have begun to attack humans for unknown reasons and when he is invited out to Botswana, he notices that unusual patterns in nature are occurring. When he observes a male lions hunting in a pride of their own he recognises something is wrong. Oz also gets to film these attacks including those on himself and he is desperate to tell the world. It is as he tries to escape an animal attack that he finds Chloe who is a scientist and becomes his lover. Over the next five years while his theory is gaining traction across the world the animal attacks are getting worse even in America. Oz tells them how to solve the problems but nobody is listening to him. An interesting read.
