It's official Gillian McAllister is a GENUIS, in my eyes anyway. WOW! OMG! BRILLIANT! PHENOMENAL. This is one gripping book, completely absorbing and it's GM's best book to date without a shadow of a doubt. Who'd of thought a book told backwards, with time loops would work. Well this one did, it's outstandingly clever with characters you really feel for and care about immensely. All the characters are brilliant and I immediately connected with the protagonist Jen, all she wants to do is save her son. So she goes back in time and along the way discovers hidden secrets which could break her family apart. The plot is completely original and it's definitely written from the heart. I LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about it and it's going to be number one in the bestseller list for 2022. There are not enough words to say how much I enjoyed this book, it's twisty with an ending which blew my mind. HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Gillian, you have definitely written your best book ever and I think this would make a phenomenal TV series or film.

I had been looking forward to being able to read this book for months and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I raced through it in just 3 days and even though I have loved all of Gillian McAllister’s books, Wrong Place Wrong Time is my new favourite! It is so unique in the way it is written because the story is told backwards! We meet Jen on Day Zero, in the early hours of the morning as she is waiting for her teenage son Todd to return home. When she sees him walking towards their home from the landing window she senses something is wrong. Running down the stairs, closely followed by her husband Kelly, Jen opens their front door and sees Todd and a stranger close together on the street. Before she knows it, Todd has stabbed them! He’s murdered a complete stranger right outside their home! With their son in custody, Jen and Kelly return home in despair. But for Jen, when she wakes, it is yesterday (Day Minus One) and the murder hasn’t yet happened! Every day thereafter, when Jen wakes up, she is further in the past, and further away from the murder. Somewhere in the past lies the answers as to what happened that night. But is it possible to stop a murder when it’s already happened? I was gripped from the start and this feeling continued the whole way through as I was reading. This book is so phenomenally clever and I couldn’t wait to learn what Jen would uncover next as she moved further and further back in time. There were so many things that took me by total surprise as I was reading; it was just so incredible! I was intrigued too by the chapters from the perspective of Ryan, a new police officer, which were interspersed throughout the book. They way these chapters were used was so incredibly clever and added another great element to the story when all became clear! It’s hard to say anything more without giving something away, but I honestly cannot recommend Wrong Place Wrong Time highly enough. The ending too was absolutely fantastic! Although I didn’t want this book to have to come to an end, it really couldn’t have been more clever. I still can’t believe I actually had one small detail right too in amongst so much that took me by surprise! I also loved the prologue and opening chapter of ‘Just Another Missing Person’, which will be Gillian McAllister’s next book, and is at the end of this one. It was a great surprise to have this sneak peak and I am already wishing I could just keep reading it now (roll on 11th May 2023 haha)!

Amazing! So cleverly written. Essentially a crime back to front, but to get all the details and many twists in the right order is just breathtaking. I thought I might have a problem with the time slip, but it is so gripping I was hooked from the start, read it all too quickly and absolutely loved it. It deserves to be huge!

I like a time travel story and Wrong Time Wrong Place by Gillian McAllister is a time travel story – with a difference – that I loved! This book is pretty good up until the halfway point. THEN IT GETS EVEN BETTER! (Sorry, was I shouting?) It's a brilliant concept. Your son commits a crime and the next day you wake up and it’s the day before. You have the chance to stop what’s happened or, at the very least, find out WHY it’s happened. This isn’t Groundhog Day where the main protagonist Jen lives the same day over and over. She travels back a day at a time trying to unravel what’s happened and what the key is to change the future. The further back Jen goes the more she uncovers about her family’s secrets – but how far back does she have to go to prevent her son taking part in the crime? To say much more would involve massive spoilers about how the whole story connects through time and it’s unfair to do that. You need to read this fresh with the merest hint about the story – which is told backwards and in such a fresh, unique way. Each time I thought I’d worked something out, the narrative would wrong-foot me. As Jen travels back she’s able to focus more on certain things second time round. Little quirks and things that just don’t add up which she’d previously paid little attention to. There’s also events she’d like to change but is totally aware of the butterfly effect and the ripples in time that could alter the future, for better or worse. The genius of this story practically (quantum) leaps off the page. Every detail, no matter how miniscule, all eventually click into place as Jen tries to put right what’s gone wrong. It’s an absolutely amazing time travel/crime thriller cross-over which is astounding in its plot intricacies and so well written. This is, so far, my book of the year – I only wish I could travel back in time to read it again for the very first time.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister is a superb mind-bender of a story. It is perfectly crafted and skilfully written. Jen lives in a normal suburb in Merseyside husband Kelly and son Todd, a physics university student when she witnesses a terrible crime whilst waiting for Todd to come home from a night out. The subsequent events cause Jen to question many things, not least her husband's account of his family and his honesty; she is rocked by all that she discovers but can she make sense of it all? This is such an original and entertaining story which twists me for a bit, then makes perfect sense by the end!!
