“Wicked & Sharp”
(Hardback)
Worst Idea Ever is Jane Fallon's latest novel and centres on the friendship between Georgia Shepherd and Lydia Somers. Lydia starts up an online business as an illustrator that then begins to struggle financially, and Georgia is desperate to help however she can. Knowing that Lydia wouldn't accept handouts or charity even from a long-term best friend, Georgia masquerades as a stranger behind a newly created, Twitter account, calling herself Patricia and offers her friend the support she wishes Lydia would have accepted from her as her BFF.
Patricia and Lydia become close, and Lydia confides in Patricia, telling her secrets that Georgia doesn't even know as her bestie of 20 years+ and this makes her resentful. Georgia realises Lydia keeps many things from her and concludes that she may not know Lydia at all. This sours their friendship and platonic love turns into revenge and an unhealthy obsession. A compulsive and enthralling tale, Jane Fallon's tale is wickedly twisty and believable. From beginning to end it was an exceptional read.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Penguin Books (UK) via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.
“Brilliant read”
(Hardback)
AMAZING! I can’t tell you how much I adored this book and I want all my friends to read it so we can talk about it! It is my favourite book of the year so far. Jane Fallon never disappoints her readers with her true to life writing style – it’s like you’re having coffee with a friend and she is telling you this wonderful story about colleagues at work. It’s a very personal style of writing, and makes you feel included in the plot rather than just observing it. – you’re in the living room with the characters, not looking in through the window.
As for those characters, I couldn’t stand Lydia right from the start, initially I wanted to, but she just seemed consumed with jealously for her friend, so I was glad that Georgia had a bit of fire in her belly and didn’t take any of it lying down and stood up for herself. I’d love to go for a girl’s night out with Georgia and Anna Marie (the friend who lives down the road!)
I also didn’t see the twist coming at the end of part one, which was a lovely surprise.
All-in-all a remarkable read – I want to scream about this book from the roof tops!!
“Bingeworthy”

Another wonderfully written Jane Fallon story, I always feel in safe hands!
Lydia and Georgia have been best friends since university, telling each other everything and sharing their lives. But Georgia's life has gone a bit more smoothly and down a traditional path, married with children, nice house, good friends, her art has been turned into a successful children's book series. Lydia's art hasnt been picked up commercially and she's in a job she hates.
Georgia decides to try and encourage Lydia through inventing Patricia, a twitter fan who is very taken by Lydia's art but then some truths about Georgia's cosy homelife are shared in private conversations between Lydia and Patricia, and the cat is out of the bag
A fun read, great for a change from the relentless crime thrillers that Ive been reading- highly recommended like all of Jane's books.
“Would recommend”
(Hardback)
Magical book I would recommend to anyone.
Many twists and turns to the plot and the reader is drawn in from the start, real life being put on hold !
A great extremely enjoyable read, with realistic if not extremely likeable characters and a rollercoaster of a plot
Thank you to Netgalley, Penguin- Michael Joseph Ltd and Jane Fallon for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
“Fun, twisty, and keeps you guessing”
(Hardback)
Excellent twisty revenge novel! Difficult to write too much without giving away some serious spoilers, but – I really didn’t see it coming! Great, believable characters, a fascinating portrayal of long-term friendships, plus a pace that doesn’t hang around, this made for a fun summer read that had me switching my allegiances almost as often as I turned the page. Oh, and if any publishers are reading this, can someone please bring the Wilbur and Igor books to life!
