This is the third book in the Landover series where we meet up with Ben as the settled and largely accepted High Lord of the magical kingdom. Unfortunately, Questor the court magician is still incompetent and sends his king, Willow (the love interest) and Abernathy (a friend, currently in dog form) back to Earth when trying a bit of magic. In place of the people sent away, is a bottle with a magical demon, who grants the wishes of the person who posses it. As with all magical wish stories, the wishes never quite turn out the way the wisher imagines and ruin and destruction follow in the bottle's wake. So Ben and his friends must find a way back to Landover while trying to avoid the clutches of the abdicated heir to Landover, Michael. This is a fun, well paced read with very strong characters and interesting story. I am enjoying the series and would suggest it to any fantasy fans, or those wanting to try the genre out for the first time.
