Reviews: Why We Sleep (21)
“A must-read for anyone sleep deprived”
(Hardback)
This is great book full of fascinating and informative advice about the importance of getting enough sleep and the vital importance of quality sleep to all aspects of our health and mental functioning. Its really changed my attitude to sleep & certainly explains why I’ve come across so many grumpy teenagers & night owls in the past!
“Sleeping is your super power”
(Paperback)
What an amazing book. I had no idea how much was going on inside the brain when we’re asleep.
I really like the writing style. The author has a great way of explaining concepts by relating the science to things we’re all familiar with. You get gentle reminders of some of the concepts you learned in the book; nice positive.
Strongly recommend this book to everyone.
“Brilliant”
(Paperback)
The problem I had with this book is that it is so good, I couldn't put it down. Not good for my sleep quota ...
“Crucial Wisdom”
(Hardback)
This book is one of the most important publications of the century so far. Matthew Walker takes up arms to defend one of our most ancient practices – sleep – which is rapidly deteriorating under the full scale assault of the modern world. "Why We Sleep" has much to recommend, from its detailed account of the functions of sleep to cutting-edge theories about the mental health hygiene provided by dreams, but perhaps its most important passages are those concerning the damage caused by sleep deprivation. To read this book is not simply important, it is imperative to defending yourself in a world which, paradoxically, values sleep less and less.
“An eye opener on shut-eye”
(Hardback)
Very readable book explaining the reasons why we find it hard to sleep and why we need to.
