Reviews: What the Crow Saw Below (2)
“Critical thinking at its best”
(Paperback)
Little Crow is imaginative while being respectful of the elders. When the elders are napping, Little Crow safely tests the theories and is vindicated.
A good fable to teach that all opinions have value and are worth testing. Loved it!
A gathering of crows is called a murder of crows.
The illustrations by Greg Stobbs are simple, stylized, imaginative, colorful, and fun.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school, hospital, or your local public library!
I requested and received a free temporary uncorrected proof e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Flyaway Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
“A gorgeous story about being brave and spreading your wings”
(Paperback)
What the Crow Saw Below is such a lovely story, written by the talented Robert Tregoning and illustrated by the equally talented Gregg Stobbs. A young crow is told, in no uncertain terms, that what crows should be doing is looking down from the tree for danger. Caw, caution! is their call. But the young crow wonders what might be above them, beyond the branches of the tree. Deciding to explore, she soon finds a whole new world awaits, filled with sunlight and many other birds. This story is beautifully told in rhyme, packed with alliteration, and is a joy to read aloud. With a message about not letting worries take over and being brave, children will be filled with excitement for what can be. The illustrations are just gloriously bold, with such a lovely colour palette. I highly recommend this book.
