“Do not read late into the night”
(Paperback)

Wow! This story had me on edge from start to finish. I never knew where it was headed, and my wild predictions were no match for the author's twisted imagination. I tried to outthink the plot, but I was completely wrong—and I loved it! As the story unfolded and secrets came to light, the suspense was nerve-wracking. The atmosphere was so vivid, I could feel every tense moment with each turn of the page. The characters felt incredibly real, and while I was deeply invested in each of them, I couldn’t trust a single one. It was absolutely exhilarating! The deeper I got into the story, the faster my heart raced, and I couldn’t bear to put the book down—so I read late into the night. Warning: Do not follow my example! This book gave me the ultimate case of the creepy chills. And it was amazing!
“Claustrophobic and shocking”
(Paperback)
by Alfie at Ashford
To gain experience in the field, medical student Amy has to spend a night locked in psychiatric ward but no one knows her dark past with Ward D. As the hours locked in tick by Any begins to become convinced that something sinister is going but with nothing being as it seems she doesn't know who or what she can trust. Will she survive the night? So far my favourite Freida McFadden book. This one blurs the lines between thriller and horror to create an extremely tense and compulsive reading experience. The whole thing was twisty and dark, with the biggest feeling of claustrophobia taking over. Just like Amy, we the reader don't know who to trust which makes you feel uneasy until the horrifyingly shocking twist at the end.
“An addictive, fast paced, page turner from the Queen of suspense!”

"The best lies stay close to the truth" Plot: Medical student Amy is in her 3rd year residency. As part of her training she must gain experience in every medical field. Including, the hospital's mental health unit known as Ward D. This is a shift she is dreading and as the night starts, she bumps into familiar faces she's rather avoid. As the clock ticks down on her 12 hour shift, it becomes apparent that something very unsettling is going on in Ward D. Staff and patients are going missing. Amy doesn't know what is real, what is a reflection of her own fear and imagination or who she can trust. One thing is very clear, the whole ward is in danger and Amy must do everything she can to survive the night. Having struggled with my own mental health for years, I took this book at face value for the work of fiction that it is. I have to say I really enjoyed it. The fast pace and short chapters made this a very addictive read that I couldn't put down. I've never said "one more chapter" so many times as I did with this book. I love Freida's writing style and find her books easy to read and really enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this book to suspense/thriller fans. However, if you would prefer a book that accurately represents mental health issues and avoids the stigma surrounding them, then this may not be the book for you.
