Wake Up Dead takes place in the townships of South Africa. The thriller element is ok, with a reasonably believeable central character and plot line. But overall it paints an overly depressing picture of the violence, drugs and poverty of the area. And it glories too much in the gore with more violent activity than it really necessary. Not for the faint of stomach.
