Thank you to the publisher Bedford Square Publishers for providing this book for review purposes via NetGalley all opinions are my own. This book was a beautifully written exploration of grief and second chances, it made me tear up in places and laugh in others. My heart broke for Chloe after all she went through losing her best friend Kerry, her breakup but I think after all of that she was allowed to fall apart. I can see why she wanted to lose herself in the Metaverse as it was pure escapism, deciding to track down Blaine in New York after the app they were using went down was absolutely mad. Why I have done it? Probably not but I enjoyed reading as Chloe adapted to her new reality and learnt to forgive herself. Her adventures round New York were a hoot and I loved her friendship with Lila, she was just the friend she needed. I enjoyed Chloe reconnecting with Jimmy, no spoilers but these two were perfect for each other and Jimmy was written very realistically, he was very relatable. No complaints about the authors written as this book is beautiful and I loved every moment of it, if you are looking for a contemporary romance that will tear your heart out and then mend it this book is for you. I truly loved it.

“Five stars!”

by The Secret Book Review
Virtually Yours by Anna Bell is a poignant and emotionally grounded book about grief, avoidance, and the difficult work of opening yourself up again after loss. Following the death of her best friend, Chloe retreats into a virtual world where connection feels safer and pain can be kept at arm’s length. Through her VR headset, she escapes into glittering Manhattan skylines and virtual dates with Blaine, a charming avatar who offers comfort without complication. Their chemistry is real, even if the circumstances are not, and for Chloe, that distinction feels manageable while she is still drowning in grief. When Blaine suggests she travel to New York to find him, the idea forces Chloe to confront more than just the mystery of who he might be. The city holds old wounds, including memories of her ex boyfriend Jimmy, and the closer she gets to New York, the more the past presses in. Reuniting with Jimmy brings unresolved feelings to the surface and pushes Chloe to question what she truly wants, and whether she is ready to face it. Chloe is a frustrating heroine at times, but in a way that feels honest and deeply understandable. Her denial, her avoidance, and her reliance on the virtual world all stem from grief that she has not yet learned how to carry. The emotional core of the story lies in that tension, between wanting to feel better and not being ready to do the work that healing requires. I loved that the romance here does not follow an obvious or easy path. There is real love present, but also distance, miscommunication, and the reality that you cannot always reach someone who is not ready to be reached. This adds a thoughtful twist and gives the story emotional depth. This is a heartfelt and contemporary book that gently explores grief, connection, and the courage it takes to step back into the real world after losing your person.
