Reviews: Vanished Years (2)
“Vanished years, rediscovered.”
(Paperback)
by Andrew Doolin
Vanished Years is a wonderful follow up to his 2006 memoir, Red Carpets and Banana Skins. Everett is very self aware of the ridiculousness that often surrounds his life and isn't afraid to bare his teeth when it comes to his celebrity chums. He is as funny as ever and amongst the celebrity anecdotes we find an emotional side to his writing that wasn't as obvious in his previous book (which is still excellent!). Chapters on his visits to Russia and Lourdes as well as his Father's final days are some of his best writing reaching a new emotional depth. Whether you're a fan of his work or have never seen anything he's done, this is a wonderful, wonderful memoir.
