Reviews: Us Two (3)
“Fabulous”
(Hardback)
by Sue Stephens
I love Janet Hoggarth books! This one is a story about two childhood friends, Florence and Rowena, and their relationship while growing up - navigating love, loss, betrayal, boyfriends, parents and their own friendship. This book deals with some very emotional issues, so a box of tissues will definitely come in handy whilst reading this rollercoaster ride of a story. I would love to see a second book as I was left with quite a few unanswered questions - particularly about Frank - which I would love to have answers to!
“Highly Recommended”

This book had a slow start, but you realise why as the story unfolds. It is a very enjoyable read, plenty of humour, relatable characters and an incredible emotional story. A book I would highly recommend Thanks to Netgalley, Janet Hogarth and Boldwood Books for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
“An emotional story”
(Paperback)
by Amanda Oughton
I have been a fan of Janet's work for a while now although I admit that I haven't read everything that she has written. The synopsis of 'Us Two' certainly appealed to me and I couldn't wait to dive in. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for a fun afternoon of reading. I really enjoyed reading 'Us Two' but more about that in a bit. It didn't take me long at all to get into 'Us Two'. In fact by the time I got to the end of the second page, I knew that this was going to prove to be an addictive read and that I would have real difficulty putting the book to one side for any length of time. I was spot on with both predictions. Part of the reason why I enjoyed the story so much has to do with the main characters of Florence and Rowena, who once upon a time were best friends but are currently estranged for reasons which are explained as the story progresses. I had my own theories as to what was going to happen in the story and so of course I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered off in the opposite direction. The time and the page numbers seemed to fly by at a rate of knots. I seemed to race through the book. All too quickly I reached the end and I had to say goodbye to Rowena and Florence. I found 'Us Two' to be an emotional but ultimately uplifting story with a generous helping of humour. 'Us Two' is very well written. Janet has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading of Janet's books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. In Florence and Rowena, Janet has created two lovely characters who are sure to stay in my memory for a long time to come. Janet's love for her characters shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. Her characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Janet makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. The story focuses on friendship and secrets. The author writes about such subjects in a compassionate and sensitive way. At times the story made me well up whilst at other times the story made me laugh out loud. In short, I really enjoyed reading 'Us Two' and I would recommend this book to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Janet's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.
