Reviews: Until August (7)
“Great Read!”
(Hardback)
Only a short read but simply brilliant writing!
Absolutely recommended.
“Only Garcia Marquez can create magic in 100 pages”
(Paperback)
This book was a perfect way to conclude my engagement with the writing of Gabriel Garcia Marquez whom I have been following for many years. It was a fitting conclusion of the last days of an older life. Marquez is an absolute master at wrapping melancholy, romance and humour in short, detailed observations of a personal life.
“The Last Novella of a Literary Giant”
(Hardback)
For someone who'd been procrastinating over his novels ... this was the perfect introduction to Gabriel Garcia Marquez. An easy read but one that explores the human condition in a way that many will relate to ... the happy marriage but a yearning to explore sensuality and freedom before 'life passes us by'. 'Until August' certainly inspired me to read other books by Gabo ...and have just enjoyed reading "Love in the Time of Cholera" which I doubt I would have tried otherwise.
“Melancholic and bitter sweet!”
(Hardback)
A new novel from the great writer Gabriel García Márquez felt like a Christmas gift!
We have just received a copy of the book from the publisher today and I’ve read it as soon as I was off work.
If you love Gabo’s style, you will enjoy this one for sure! It is a melancholic and bitter sweet encounter, but nevertheless glorious!
Hasta luego, señor García Márquez! Ha sido un honor!
“Not his best, but still good.”
(Hardback)
have to say I loved the novels of Marquez, but I don't think this is up to his usual standard. To me it is a bit rushed, still better than 80% of writers but not up yo his very high standard. Would I recommend it, yes.
