I really enjoyed this book. Although there have been a lot of books about people with super powers, I think this was a really refreshing and original story. I am very much looking forward to the sequel!!!

Everyone on a flight from London to Delhi develop special powers. Whatever their deepest wish was, comes true but not necessarily in the way they would expect. What will they do with these new found powers? Will they use them for good or evil? Samit Basu starts his novel off in a very serious vein. It is thought provoking and a great read. What would you do with a newly found power? Then all of sudden he starts playing it for laughs as if he was writing a Hollywood (or Bollywood) spoof superhero film script. It shifts from the philosophical to the ludicrous in one page, which spoilt the story for me. I did enjoy this book, but felt that Samit should have made it either a spoof from the start, or played down the laughs to make it more thought-provoking. It loses it's impact by putting in superfluous sex scenes (which would be coupled with crashing waves etc in the film that is bound to follow this book). Maybe Samit’s intention is to make it thought provoking but to relieve the tension as well. If you are in to X-Men, Terminator and all the other superheroes out there, then you’ll enjoy this book. I would be interested to read the sequel, if only to see if he can get the balance right.
