All opinions are my own.That cliffhanger at the end has left me on tender-hooks and I need the next book in the series, hopefully the next book will be Sawyer and Bowens as the chemistry between them sizzled. When we meet Calder I thought he was just another stuffed suit and the way he and his brothers treated Meredith was appalling and that didn’t exactly endear him to me. She was a kid when her sister Holly and their dad got together, she was grieving the sister who raised her and her father figure but they didn’t account for that. So I really did enjoy it when they felt guilty for their actions, they all needed a dose of karma. I liked Meredith I thought she got played a rotten hand of card, I loved the friendship between her and Sawyer as they were like sisters. Calder grew on me as it was clear as I was reading that he was coming to care for Meredith, maybe even realise that she was blameless for the state of the ranch, brewery and his dads actions. I get that he didn’t want to lose his brothers but I was so desperately hoping that he would choose Meredith and put her first, as she deserved that. I love western romances and this one did not disappoint as they were plenty of steamy kisses and bundles of messy feelings between our couple. A most excellent read.

It's certainly a tale full of angst and grief. Meredith is left running the brewery and the ranch when her older sister and brother-in-law die in a car crash. Questions surrounding the accident add another layer to the story. The main event is the brothers' animosity towards Meredith, which begins when they left home after their father married their mother's best friend in unseemly haste. Calder, the eldest, a financial wiz, returns home first, and the attraction between him and Meridith is immediate and inconvenient, given that he is hoping to sell the brewery and ranch and leave her nothing. It's an emotional read that explores misdirected blame. Even though the brothers' anger towards Meredith is unjustified, you have to understand their feelings. The relationship between Meredith and Calder is fast, but both are grieving, and the need to prove they are still alive intensifies their feelings. The complex emotions, passionate romance and rural setting make for an engaging read. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
