Reviews: Triptych (5)
“Loved it!”
(Paperback)
Very violent and graphic when it comes to the murder and forensic science but cannot deny IT IS SO GOOD. I am obsessed with this character and Karin Slaughter’s writing!!

I borrowed the book from a friend who had said "borrow it for as long as you like", two days later I had already finished it and was handing it back. I'm now looking for something to follow it.

This was the best book I have read in a fair few years. It is absolutely fantastic. As the title implies it is separated into three sections which all link in together. If you like a book with a very well planned, and completely unpredictable twist then this is the book for you. My jaw dropped which then turned into the biggest smile as this is Karin Slaughter at her absolute best. I think she is a very underestimated writer, and she will be bigger than Patricia Cornwell someday soon.
“Torn between 3 or 4 stars for this one...”
(Paperback)
While Will Trent is a refreshing change from Jeffrey Tolliver, I felt this book was a little disappointing, mainly due to its structure. The story was shared between several perspectives - a detective, a recently paroled murderer and special agent Will Trent - and as a result there were few surprises in the plot, it felt like the story was more about physically catching the killer than finding out who he was, which took much of the enjoyment of the book away for me. However, the action in the final chapters was fast-paced and exciting.
“Airport rubbish”
(Paperback)
Cheap, trashy, poorly written with unrealistic characters. Miserable read - stopped before the halfway point.
