An utterly unbelievable plot is hatched by Miles Falkner to take revenge on William Warwick.. It's a plot that involves stealing The Crown Jewels and discredit Warwick. Jeffrey. Archer is a great story teller and this book doesn't disappoint. It is thoroughly entertaining and well thought out.

This is book six in this brilliant series that really should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. So.. every year, on the State Opening of Parliament, the reigning Monarch wears the Crown Jewels. This involves a high security operation to fetch them from the Tower of London, present them to the Monarch to wear at the ceremony, and then return to the Tower afterwards. It is a cloak and dagger operation, the ins and outs of which are closely guarded secrets right up to the wire. So it would probably be impossible to steal them, wouldn't it? But someone is planning to do just that. And he has a man on the inside to help. And a very big reason to pull it off... And time is ticking for Warwick and all to stop it happening. Spoilers prevent me from saying anything more about the plot of this book but, if you have read the previous books, and you have, haven't you? You'll pretty much know who and why, and have guessed that it is a whole lot more than just the Jewels. And that's why this author is king of what he does. Outwith the main story, Beth also has her own side-story around her current job and a possible job change. This complements the main story very well. As do all the catch-ups from various other series characters I have grown quite fond of in the previous 5 books. All in all, a cracking addition to a very solid series.

Another fast paced thriller from Jeffrey Archer . William Warwick is back and he is a Chief superintendent in the Metropolitan Police. Miles Faulkner his arch nemesis is also back wanting to wreak havoc and in his eyes retribution on Warwick . Faulkner hatches a plan to steal the Crown Jewels he has a man on the inside so the odds looked to be stacked in his favour don’t they? Can Warwick and his team save the day? Another excellent instalment of the William Warwick series , an easy and enjoyable read . Looking forward to the next in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK.

Traitor's Gate is Jeffrey Archers latest novel in the Chief Superindendent William Warwick series. Warwick effects the return of a painting from America to its rightful place in a London gallery but in so doing really upsets his arch felon Miles Faulkner. Faulkner who seems to have unlimited funds, wants to exact revenge on Warwick by stealing the crown jewels, the very jewels Warwick is charged with keeping secure whilst they are whisked from The Tower to Buckingham Palace for the Queen's speech. It's an easy read, fast paced, jolly jape themed novel. There's a parallel story which is told by Warwick's children researching Captain Blood, the likeness with the modern day heist doesn't go unnoticed. I enjoyed the book and for entertainment level only, I will score it five stars. My thanks go to Netgalley and the publishers for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

William and Beth’s children, Artimesia and Peter, along with Ross’s daughter Jojo are investigating the attempted theft of the Crown Jewels in the 1600’s by Colonel Blood. Wow, what a rollercoaster read. It felt a little slow to start, but once I was into the book, I couldn’t put it down - fast paced and thrilling. I loved it.
