Book 6 in The Detective William Warwick Series and it’s another cracking read. The title refers to the entrance to the Tower of London through which traitors were sent for execution and this latest book features the Tower and the Crown Jewels. Set in 1997 when Tony Blair’s Labour Party won the general election and set largely in London this is a great story. For 4 years Chief Superindendent Warwick and his friend and colleague Inspector Ross Horgan have been responsible for transporting the jewels used during the Queens Speech in parliament. Briefly, Miles Faulkner has been released from prison and he is determined to wreak revenge on the three men who put him there. He has come up with a plot to steal the jewels and discredit Warwick, Horgan and Commander Hawksley. With inside help Faulkner starts to plan the perfect heist. It’s 400 years since Colonel Blood attempted this theft, will Faulkner be more successful? Although this follows on from previous books it will read as a stand-alone. The detail of police procedures and royal protocol are excellent and have clearly been well researched. Archer is a master storyteller and this was a real page turner, with a number of other threads running alongside the Heist, all of which wrap up seamlessly. A typical Archer read, fast paced with numerous red herrings, fun plots and highly enjoyable.

I always really enjoy reading Jeffrey Archer. This is the 6th in a series I haven’t read all of the series but I enjoyed the book and could still follow it so I can recommend as a standalone….however I enjoyed so much Im going to read the whole series. A great read once again

As an avid reader of all Jeffrey Archer books and one who has thoroughly enjoyed both the Clifton Chronicle and William Warwick series this was an absolute pleasure. 'Traitors Gate' is perhaps my favourite book of the William Warwick series involving as always Williams arch enemy Miles Faulkner in a plot to steel the crown jewels which was brilliantly told and keeps the reader in suspense to the last page. Long may the William Warwick series continue to entertain us all.

Jeffrey Archer definitely does it again! I loved this book. Picking up on the background story of William Warwick and his family and Ross Hogan and their constant battle with the antics of Miles Faulkner. The storyline was amazing the planning and plotting that went into Faulkner's latest heist were remarkable. the counteracting of all his moves were just so cleverly worked out. One of those books you cannot out down and one of those books you do not want to end. Can't wait for the next book to come along in 2024....

I loved this book. I've read several earlier books by Jeffrey and all are the same high standard. Definitely in a 'ripping good yarn' category of book. Wonderful not to have endure yet another 'Hollywood Style Ending' where the lead Police Officer in the book is kidnapped or does this unbelievably stupid and is saved by his team arriving in the nick of time. Traitor's Gate never falters and the final last few chapters are especially tense. Thoroughly recommended
