Reviews: Training Kit (Exam 70-463) Implementing a Data Warehouse with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (MCSA) (1)
“Very Poor”
(Multiple items, part(s) enclosed)
I have taken numerous Microsoft SQL Server exams over the years and have been working in databases for approx. 10 years. As anyone else who has used Microsoft's exam prep books will know they usually have many mistakes in them which can make study quite frustrating. This book however is by far the worst quality Microsoft training kit I have ever used. The book's errata is huge (although I accept that not all of the errata are critical mistakes). The questions at the end of each chapter are ridiculous - they are very vague and many could have different answers depending on how you read the question and your opinions. The test simulation from Prometric is also very bad and has obviously been written by people who don't work with SQL Server. Finally the content of the book itself has many mistakes and the exercises involve constantly going to the errata when you realise that their directions have missed out steps. Overall very poor - I get the impression Microsoft puts pressure on writers to get a training kit out as quick as possible when actually it would benefit everyone much more if they took their time and proof read the book before publishing it. The only reason I'd recommend this book is because it's the only book that covers the exam content - it's a case of you have to use the book because there's nothing else out there that can be used. Terrible.
