“Excellent - better then Dr Who”
(Paperback)
by Goshdarn
First class time travel tale. I love the idea of time travel, always have, but for one reason or another various stories on this subject have disappointed me. Particularly Dr Who which always manages to start well then end up going silly. But with TimeRiders I feel all the bits I've always wanted to see in a time travel story have arrived in one big spectacular package. Reading it, it actually feels like watching a big-budget movie (you'll see what I mean) Scarrow has managed to create an epic 'What If' storyline that takes in World War 2, the assassination of JFK, Nazi Airhsips invading America, mutant cannibals in a post apocalyptic landscape. He's got all that and managed to combine it with a bunch of characters I actually like. Brilliant. I loved it and can't wait for the next one, which I believe is going to feature dinosaurs. Oh, and the other reason I love it? One of the characters has the same first name! Not that I'm biased.

Wow! This book turned out to be much more awesome than I expected it to be. Yes the concept sounded good even before reading but it was executed to perfection.Timeriders has adventure, action, science, history and dystopia all in one fab story. Being the first book of the series, there's a fair bit of setting the scene, introducing the characters and so on. This it's self is interesting enough as we learn all about the role of a Timerider along side the characters themselves. The story jumps about a bit from different times and we get to see what the 'baddies' are up to throughout. The story is based around World War II and what could have happened if one important part of the war was changed. I really liked all of the main characters and felt involved with them, caring about what happened to each of them. They were well developed and each had their own personality and role within the group. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the rest of the series. The second book has dinosaurs and I'm especially excited about the third one as it has Robin Hood!
“A great book”

My 11 yr old son really liked this. As suggested in the Waterstone's store, it makes a good book for those who enjoy the Alex Rider series. He's read the 2nd one so far and reports it as being just as good.

An excellent romp through time without getting too technical or paradoxical! Three children are plucked from time just before they are about to die and told they can now act as Timer riders, spotting the changes in time and using their own particular skills to trace where the changes happened and how to prevent them so that time can resume normally. Great fun, even if you don't have a special interest in History!
“Not as exciting as i thought it would be”

I picked up this book because it had a really interesting concept and it had a really fluid story but i just found that i was reading for the sake of reading rather than really getting into the story. It tells the story of three children who were suppose to die at different intervals of the time stream but were saved to help police time. 1 person to go back in time to fix what has changed, one to notice what has happened and in what period of time that the change occured and 1 that deals with the technical side to the mission. In this story Hitler won the war and germany rules with an iron fist. I think it's a great story for kids aged 13+ and those that like spy/adventure stories, i just couldn't get along with it.
