Reviews: Tick Tock (42)
“Technical Thriller”
(Hardback)
by Ryan Bainbridge
Let's start by saying Mayo's 'Mad Blood Stirring' is an absolute amazing novel, a triumph in every way. His thriller writing is less enjoyable for me and like 'Knife Edge', I found 'Tick Tock' enjoyable but unsatisfying. The premise is great and the first half of the novel as Kit, Lilley and Rose begin to grapple with new pandemic that is occurring is engaging and intriguing. It all becomes less successful as the scientific reasons are sought and explained and the neat solution is sought. This I begun to find tedious and a struggle. Hoping for more historical romps in the future from Simon and i will avoid the future thrillers.

Loved the overall story but hated his style of writing and what is it with the hours on every page.. 7.15am.. 7.23am.. 8am.. I mean we get it that the time is passing.. The story is so interesting.. always liked this kind of there is a pandemic happening books (even before covid) but have not managed to finish it.. just dragging it and not getting to the point.. might try to finish it one day. I received this book from the publishers in return for an honest and unbiased review (thank you so much)
