Joe Pickett is summoned when his daughter’s prospective fiancé is found dead – killed by a rogue bear. Around the same time, Dallas Cates is released from prison, and he is hell-bent on killing every person connected to having him convicted. Included in the list is Joe’s best friend Nate Romanowski and Joe himself. This is an amazingly fast storyline which has the reader hooked from the first line to the last. I love Joe Pickett, his family, and his work as a warden in a vast area of wilderness.
“The best book I’ve read this year so far.”

Game warden Joe Pickett is on the hunt for a grizzly bear that is on the rampage. At the same time unbeknown to him Dallas Cates has been released from prison and is seeking revenge against anyone that has wronged him, this includes Joe and his best friend Nate Romanowski. Using the bear attacks as cover, Cates with a few unscrupulous friends create the ultimate nightmare for the people on his list and bodies start to drop. Can Joe and Nate survive the most dangerous enemy they’ve ever encountered? I personally think this is the best book I’ve this year so far. It’s hard-hitting, brutal and impossible to put down. C.J Box really is a quite phenomenal writer, he hooks you in and doesn’t let go until the last page. Truly outstanding.
“Three Inch Teeth by C J Box”
(Hardback)
by Christine Rennie
Three inch teeth by C J Box is another storyline about Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett,. This time he faces two different kinds of rampaging beasts, one animal and one human. A rogue grizzly bear has gone on the rampage, killing among others Joe’s eldest daughter’s future fiancé. At the same time Dallas Cates is released from prison, with a list of six names tattooed on him. He wants revenge for his imprisonment and his family’s deaths. Whilst at times the storyline is highly improbable, it is as always, a terrific read and great entertainment. Highly recommended
“I really enjoyed it.”

I love this series of books, always well written with clear, defined characterisation. This latest episode with Joe Pickett is action packed, filled with tension and suspense and had me hooked right until the last page. There are a few different storylines, all skilfully woven together, the Wyoming setting is beautifully described and although it is a bit unbelievable in parts, I really enjoyed the read.
“outstanding”

This is book 24 in the Joe Pickett series and i’m ashamed to say that I hadn’t read any of the previous books so on that score I can testify that this easily reads as a standalone, however, having read this book I will be going back to catch up on the previous 23 such was my enjoyment Even though I wasn’t familiar with the main protagonists, there was still a familiarity about the them, I was soon drawn into their story, one that just flowed seamlessly on the page. It was actually a book which I found hard to put down, the way the chapters were constructed I was eager to keep on reading and know what was to follow. The plotting is quite interesting in the way that it is built up, throwing doubt and confusion into the minds of the authorities, there are plenty of red herrings and twists to keep you guessing as you read on, the way it plays out all builds quite nicely until the dramatic finale. There is a certain air of mystery surrounding the book I loved the way characters are written, you get a sense of a community each belonging, each with their job to do. Joe Pickett struck me not only as a familiy man but am a man of principal, sworn to do his duty and uphold the law There is a darkness to the book, the deaths are gory but then you are dealing with a grizzly bear, the writing you gives you a real sense of what plays out in real life when an attack like this happens. There is also plenty of heart and emotion in the book One thing I felt as I read the book that came across strongly was the location and geography of Wyoming, the author creates a sense of the countryside and outdoors and invites the reader to share that wide open vista. Another point which struck me as interesting especially not having read the previous books is that the author isn’t afraid of making big decisions with his characters in order to move the narrative and series forward, there is shock value at times but you can see the reasons why for me it adds another level of authenticity. The way the book ended, firstly left me wanting more but more importantly has clearly left room for plot lines and characters to be explored in more depth in future books This for me was a read of pure entertainment and at the end of the day that is what I read for, a series which i am going to back to the beginning off, that’s how highly I rated the book One to highly recommend it’s a book you can close your eyes and lose yourself in
