I must say as someone who reads a lot of mythology-based fantasy books this one really stuck out for its awesome premise and worldbuilding. The author did a fantastic job exploring and incorporating various mythologies from around the world into her own unique world. The idea of these other-born that are descendants of Gods and Goddesses that are born with these gifts from the God they descended from is epic. The moira-born though that it must be 3 sisters, and each has a gift based on the order of birth?! Amazing! The author's ability to craft this world with all these complex nuances and nods to mythologies was awe-inspiring. I really enjoyed reading about the complex relationships between the sisters. Io is a character that is relatable and yet her own harshest critic. I was really impressed by how the story progressed and the details that made this world come to life. It was an incredible journey and I look forward to disappearing into this vibrant world again.

An amazing debut novel!! This stunning fantasy book is such a gorgeous retelling of the fates in a unique modern way, something we definitely haven't seen before. The world building and imagination is so vivid and amazing you can really see the world that Io lives in. I devoured this book in a day and I cannot wait for the second book coming out next year!!!

If the cover alone won’t convince you to read this book (illustration is beautiful but look at that foiling detail on the magic threads that glisten in the light - I’m mesmerised!!!) let me tell you how positively surprised I was with this story! I expected nothing but a sweet and pretty romance with magic in the background and instead I got rich and complex post apocalyptic urban fantasy world with fresh and unique magic system inspired by mythology, strong and diverse cast of characters, slow burn fated romance (my favourite kind!) and gripping mystery. This book left me breathless and wanting for more!!!

one of my favourite mythology retellings ever. An easy book to read that I couldn't put down.

I was sent an advance proof copy of Threads That Bind by Kika Hatzopoulou to read and review by NetGalley. This is a really well thought out Teen/YA fantasy novel with a very real sense of time and place with a whole host of believable characters. I loved the mystical, mythical, magical aspect of the story, which for me had just the right amount of this interwoven with ‘family life’ and relationships. There were lots of twists and turns and some very exciting episodes towards the latter half of the book. I believe that this is intended as the first of a series and I shall certainly be seeking out and reading the next one.
