Reviews: Third Time Lucky (3)
“Really Enjoyed This Book!”
(Paperback)
by Amanda-Jane Savage
I really enjoyed this book! I loved that Lucy and Asher got to reconnect and deal with emotions of their past. I loved all the characters in this book too, Mitzi is just the grandmother we all wish we could have as she is just fabulous. I also really liked Aaron and Madi. I loved that this book is so heartwarming. I would highly recommend reading this book if you love a good heartwarming book. I would like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book early.
“It was just OK”
(Paperback)
by Louise Hall
I'd never read anything by this author but I've seen their books recommended on IG. Unfortunately Third Time Lucky was just an OK read. There were no glaring red flags but I just didn't connect with Lucy and Asher. I don't know if it's because for almost all of the book, they're pretty clear that they've got feelings for each other so there wasn't any will-they-won't-they? Lucy and Asher were friends as teenagers because Lucy dated Kris, who was like a brother to Asher and it was Asher who had to tell Lucy that Kris had been killed in a car crash after the two of them were racing each other. They meet up again when Asher and his brother, Aaron stumble across Lucy's bachelorette party in Vegas and he ends up disrupting the wedding. The only real conflict in Lucy and Asher's relationship happens when Asher's brother gets involved with Lucy's best friend, Madi. I'm sure Aaron is more than just a juvenile playboy but I just found his scenes really irritating. I did like Lucy's grandmother, Mitzi though. I didn't DNF Third Time Lucky and it hasn't put me off reading other books by this author but I can't give it more than 3 x Stars.
“Chefs kiss”

This was such a fun, feel-good read! Asher and Lucy have a bunch of accidental run-ins that keep dragging up their past—mainly the loss of Kris, who was Lucy’s boyfriend and Asher’s best friend. There’s definitely a lot of emotion under the surface, but not too heavy. Their unexpected reunion in Vegas? Not exactly your classic romance moment—especially when Lucy punches her cheating fiancé in the face at the altar. They think that’s the end of it, but then Lucy’s grandma hires a private chef… and in walks Asher. From there, it’s a mix of reminiscing, cooking together, and slowly realizing that maybe there’s still something between them. I really enjoyed their connection and how natural it all felt. Plus, Asher’s brother and Lucy’s bestie were super fun side characters who added a lot to the story. I’ve read a couple of Aimee Brown’s books ages ago, and this one gave me the same cozy vibe. Definitely going to check out what else she’s written. Thank you NetGalley for the download
