Reviews: The White Devil (7)
“A Bit of Everything”
(Hardback)
Got this book as a review copy, and wasnt sure at first what to make of it. Although I found it difficult to get into to begin with after the first few chapters I found it difficult to put down, and when I did I found myself thinking of all the possible routes the story could take. This book has a bit of everything, murder, mystery, romance and ghosts. This book kept me guessing till the end and the climax of the book was gripping. A great read that I would recomend to anyone looking for a ghost story, good read and something that will keep you guessing.
“Thrilling in places.”
(Hardback)
Overall I found this book to be a very well thought out and thrilling ghost story, and I think it will be very popular amongst a teenage audience.
Although the story was captivating, at times the writing let it down, and the author chose to concentrate on aspects that adult readers will find extraneous to the story, for example various sexual teenage daliances, rather than moving the story on with a bit more pace.
The story seemed to lose its way at several points, but the last third of the book was truly gripping and the climax made my overall opinion of the book increase greatly.
I would recommend this book to any teenager looking for a good book to read, but would suggest that adults may find it a bit wolly for a thriller.
