Reviews: The Wasp Trap (92)
“Wow! What a thriller!!”
(Hardback)
by Katherine Charbonnier
Wow, what a thriller this was, I know when a book has truly got me hooked, because I look for excuses to read more than usual! The story line revolves around 6 friends who get together to remember their professor who has recently passed away, however one of those friends has a secret and there are some people that will do anything to find out what that secret is. Alternating between the present day and 1999 when the friends were together working on a dating app, they’ve all got secrets, but which one is the one that really matters and will they all get out alive? It had twists and turns aplenty, and just when I thought I might know where the story was heading I was wrong! I didn’t guess any of it, and that for me is totally satisfying! I’ve not read anything by this author before, but I’ll definitely be looking out for more books by them.
“Tense thriller”
(Hardback)

An enjoyable, intriguing thiller. I liked the dual timeline and the development of the characters. The tension really ramped up towards the end. A real page-turner. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
“Secrets served cold”
(Hardback)
by Paul Perry
A brilliantly executed thriller that keeps you guessing until the final page. This author once again delivers a masterclass in suspense, cleverly weaving between two timelines. Years after working together on a quirky romance website for an eccentric professor, a group of former colleagues reunites at a dinner party. What begins as a nostalgic gathering quickly spirals into a sinister evening of revelations, as long-buried secrets surface and tensions boil over. The dual timelines are packed with intrigue, yet the pacing is flawless—never overwhelming, always compelling. The story builds to a violent, unforgettable climax, punctuated by the author’s trademark plot twists that fans have come to expect and love. A must-read for thriller lovers who enjoy layered storytelling and psychological depth.
“I didn't want it to end!”
(Paperback)
by Madeline Cordell
Mark Edwards Strikes Again! Once more, Mark Edwards proves he's the undisputed king of psychological thrillers. This latest novel had me gripped from the first chapter to the very last page. Just when I thought I’d pieced it all together, he hit me with twist after delicious twist—none of which I saw coming. The pacing was relentless, the atmosphere tense, and the characters unsettlingly real. Edwards has a gift for turning the ordinary into the deeply ominous, and he does it with surgical precision. Absolutely loved it. In 1999 Sebastian gathered an amazing team of people at his mansion to create a computer program that would revolutionise computer dating. Each had their part to play in making it a success – that is aside from Sebastian’s obnoxious nephew Dominic. There is also some matchmaking taking place between the members of the team – Theo and Georgina bond over a wasp’s nest, and Will loves Sophie but is too scared of rejection to make a move. The programme seems to be going well until Sebastian suddenly shuts down the project and sends everyone home. Moving on 25 years and Sebastian dies. Theo and Georgina, now married with children, invite the others for a dinner party at their home to celebrate Sebastian’s life and discuss old time. In classic Mark Edwards style, buried secrets bubble up, allegiances shift, and the evening takes a sinister turn. Nothing is what it seems—and that’s precisely what makes this story impossible to put down. If you haven’t dipped into the world of Mark Edwards yet, now’s the time—and trust me, you’re in for an absolute treat. This isn’t just a book, it’s a full-throttle roller coaster: thrilling twists, jaw-dropping reveals, and suspense that grips you tight. So hold on to your hat, cancel your plans, and settle in for a wild ride you won’t want to end.
“Mark Edwards does it again”

After reading so many thrillers recently and finding them all a bit too predictable I knew that #MarkEdwards would be a guaranteed hit. I was not disappointed, he always delivers. After I hit the end of part one, I was feeling a little jaded as I thought I had the upcoming twist all sewn up. How wrong could I have been!! I love it when I'm wrong in a book and as soon as you think you know what's happened, yet another twist to the tale. Very few thrillers actually have these much hyped up twists and turns but #TheWaspTrap definitely makes true on it's promise. On a personal note, I love how his books are set in my homeland of East Sussex and Kent. Thank you #NetGalley for the advanced copy
