This is my favourite boyd morrison book. It's an exciting, extremely well written disaster novel. Originally published under the title 'rogue wave' in the USA this was published worldwide under this title a few years later. The plot is very simple. A meteor hits the ocean triggering massive tsunamis. Hundreds of miles away the lead character, Kai Tanaka, acting director of the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre in Honolulu spots a seismic disturbance. Then contact is lost with low lying islands. With little time Kai has to warn and evacuate the population of Honolulu. He also has to find and save his family. This is a great book with good characters and fantastic action scenes. It's a book I've recommended to many over the years and has proved popular. I like the characters and there are some clever touches throughout the story concerning the downside of modern reliance on technology in disaster situations. Highly recommended.
