Reviews: The Sleeping Warrior (1)
“Brilliant!!”
(Paperback)
by A Mother’s Musings
"The Sleeping Warrior" by Sara Bain had me reading well past my bedtime, I was so gripped by the thrilling storyline. I still can't stop thinking about Gabriel Radley - ah the enigmatic and mysterious Gabriel - all that leather, dark eyes, taut muscles *swoon and sighs* - what a character! He's an ancient warrior from 'Vascara' searching for a stone that has power 'beyond human imagination' that will help bring a 'monster' to justice. The story is a very original idea, that is well written with fabulous dialogue and a captivating plot. I would class this book as having a supernatural theme rather than placing it in the fantasy genre, since the author has done a tremendous job of blending the supernatural/fantasy with reality so perfectly that the whole book just seems utterly real! All the characters are very diverse and whether good or evil fit the story perfectly with one or two characters being really scary and disturbing! I particularly liked strong willed lawyer Libby despite her moral issues. There's lots of action, gruesome violence and plenty of twists and turns all mixed in with a hint of humour. I loved the trip to the Isle of Arran, having a passion for the Scottish Highlands myself I really could relate to the beautiful scenery and countryside. Urbane Publications has once again produced another fantastic book from a very talented author and I would love to meet Gabriel again in a future book. (Please Sara!) A brilliant, entertaining and thrilling story that has everything; a serial killer, a kick-ass female Russian Assassin, good versus evil - I cant recommend "The Sleeping Warrior" enough! A well deserved 5 stars!!
