Reviews: The Seventh Scroll (1)
“A rattling read.”
(Paperback)
Without giving too much away, this novel tells the story of the search for the tomb of a pharaoh. The exciting plot leads from the murder of an archaeologist to the wild mountains of Ethiopia. The extreme landscape is as much the villain of the piece as the rival treasure hunters who oppose the hero’s plans. The story twists and turns its way to a heart stopping climax.
The novel is the second in Wilber Smith’s Egyptian series. However, I haven’t read the first, and didn’t find this an impediment to enjoying the book. It is a great, if undemanding, read. The plot is engrossing and the main characters are quite appealing. I did find the minor characters rather one dimensional, but they served their purpose well.
