I bought a deluxe copy but actually read a cheaper version. The deluxe is gorgeous. The book is fascinating with the power of the Magisterium terrifying. This affects many of the characters . The great sadness is the parting of Pan and Lyra . They miss each other but Pan disapproves of Lyra. She has other problems. She travels to get away them and find Pan. This book is not for children .
