Love the descriptive smells and the herbal tea. Book was far too short. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was mildly concerned that perhaps Bob’s strengths lay in relating true tales amusingly. Perhaps fiction in the true sense (as opposed to ‘Would I lie to you’) was not his bag and maybe he should stick to the brilliance he showed in ‘And Away’. I need not have wasted my time with such thoughts. This latest book is terrific. It’s like Bob is whispering in your ear. The humour is as good as anything we’ve heard from him before and I’d strongly recommend this tale to anyone - even to someone (from another planet?!) who had never heard of Bob. Wonderful stuff. Can’t wait for novel #2.

Initially I picked this up in a buy one get one half price and because it liked the cover. However I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the book itself and the way it unfolded. There is a satisfying conclusion and a sequel in progress (avocado hotel) which I am massively looking forward to. The book itself is funny, shocking and intriguing. The way the characters unfold the mystery of what happened drew me in and the chemistry between all the characters kept me hooked. Really looking forward to avocado hotel to be released!

Very funny, a little crazy. Brilliant story. Would recommend for anyone looking for an easy, gripping read. It won’t let you down.

I consider Bob Mortimer perhaps the most wonderful human being ever. It is pure joy to watch him perform on stage, throw himself about the river banks of Britain and now to be able to read his first foray into fiction! Full of textbook Mortimer nonsense yet with a plot that keeps you gripped throughout, The Satsuma Complex is a wonderful first novel. Gary Thorn is a legal assistant who leads a fairly moribund life until he meets 'Satsuma', a girl in a pub whose name he doesn't catch and names after the book he sees her reading, "The Satsuma Complex". When Satsuma vanishes Gary begins his quest to track her down across south London meeting a fabulous cast of characters along the way including a squirrel friend that helps Gary work through some of his personal issues. What more could you want? A really good crime book for anyone but for those Bob fans out there, an absolute must.
