It kept me reading page after page so I didn't miss anything. I am a speed reader so often I don't read every page as I get easily bored with discriptions of people and places but with this book I was drawn into the period of time. Yes, I recommend this book highly.

I found the book refreshing and enjoyable. I have not read an historical novel in a long while and I will certainly read the White Queen at the first available opportunity. It is set during the war of the roses a subject I studied at O level. If this book had been available then I would have done better in my exams. The historical content provided a source of discussion with my husband who informed me that she was a very nasty woman indeed and happily confirmed that the historical content was correct. She writes so well and conveys Margaret Beauforts thoughts and emotions so well you almost believe she is Margaret. The references to Joan of Arc one of my favourite historical characters which helped make it an enjoyable book. I would happily reccomend it to any one and look forward to the next one.

I have not read a book written by Philippa Gregory for some time and I had forgotten how enjoyable her writing is. She makes a story flow, she has the abiliity to keep the reader interested so they want to find out what happens to the characters next, As this is not a period of history that I know a great deal about I can not comment on the accuracy of the historical facts. but as this is historical fiction this is probably not a major issue anyway. Right from the start of the book I soon found myself emersed in life of Margaret Beaufort and those characters who were part of her world. Philippa Gregory provides very vivid and beleivable discriptions of life iand warfare in England at this time. With the character of Margaret I went from feeling tremendous sympathy with her to really disliking her. To me she was very pious to the outside world but very ruthless and vain undeneath. I flet sorry that she, like most women at the time were treated like chattels, but I felt a lot of her ambitions for her son were more for her own position rather than love of her son. It mat have been Philippa Gregorys intention to make the reader feel this way towards Margaret. My faviurite character in the book was Sir Henry who Philippa Gregory made a thoughtful ,kind, good, reasonable and peaceful man, who only went to battle when forced. I did not see him as a coward in the least. I would throughly recommend this book to everyone and I am going to buy The White Queen to read on my holiday.

Another great book, to follow the White Queen, can't wait for the next book in the series. Once again Philippa Gregory did not disapoint.

This is a brilliant book as always Phillipa Gregorys attention to detail is stunning I would highly recommend it.
