The Radley's are vampires. They are also abstainers. Vampires who no longer drink blood of any kind. When Will (a relative of theirs) arrives they all begin to question whether they made the right choice when they gave up blood drinking.

i did not read the back of this book propley to give me an idea of what the radleys was all about. however i asked for this book for christmas and i have only just read it . As i was reading the radleys and once i realised this book was about vampires and then i wanted to hate this book from the start .Although i watch all the vampire tv programes. I just thought oh no! not a book about vampires. But this book keept me wanting to read on and on i found it such a page turner how ever much i wanted to dislike this book. iI was hooked into the radleys who are vampires in a modern todays world who live in a village of bishopthorpe in a neighbourhood with wide driveways and elegant regency features with residents that are good people and who live good and quite lives. This modern day novel is very cleaver put together.Very worth reading.I give full praise to matt haig.

I'm not a huge fan of the majority of vampire fare on offer, but I had this recommended to me by a friend with similar tastes, so I thought I'd give it a go. What this is actually is an allegory for modern life - the family featured just happen to be vampires. Secrets, lies, hidden lust, the struggle to fit in, bullying, the dynamics of the family, social norms - all these issues are discussed in The Radleys. I enjoyed reading this immensely, although I thought some of the plot needing fleshing out and the characterisation wasn't always spot on. Also, in truth I think this would be more suitable for teen readers than the majority of adults. However, if you want an entertaining way to pass the day, you could do much worse than this.

Now rumour had it that this was not your typical vampire book, however, I saw many similar elements from this fiction novel with others, such as the True Blood and Twilight series, and that is why I did not give it anymore stars as it was professing to be something it was not I felt. The plot was also highly predictable. What saved it was it was written well, far better than a 'Twilight' and so forth- the writer was evidently both clever and funny.

After reading th Twilight Saga, and some Vampire Diaries, here is another vampire book. It's about the abstaining vampires that live undetected in the society. In the beginning I was a little sceptical, as I am not really a vampire fan. But since this book is about vampires who want to live on like normal human beings, and face hindrance in doing so, I was hooked on to it. It's a fast-paced vampire thriller that I would recommend to teens and young adults who love vampire stories.
