A short book with a very simple narrative populated almost exclusively by just two characters; it reads more like a novella, or even a longish short story. But good things can and sometimes do come in small packages - and this is one of them. The book has a claustrophobic intensity which reminded me of some of Athol Fugard's plays (e.g. The Island, The Blood Knot); and it is searching. It left me with questions, not answers - I think. Or, if there is an answer, it's darkly nihilistic (and probably sadly very close to reality).
