I picked this up and completely fell in love with it. Its a realistic story about a criminal fugitive falling in love in a foreign country and surviving the underworld. This sounds done before and it is. But Roberts portrays the story with so much poetic skill that it gets a strange new hybrid flow between passionate philosophy and gritty scepticism. Class struggle, drugs, violence, politics, and faith is questioned in an interesting way. I couldnt put the book down and took it everywhere with me. It shows and I need a new one now, haha. Would love a hardcover this time.
