my friend recommended this book to me, at school, so i thought i would give it a try, because i wanted it to live up to the standards o The Hunger Games and Divergent series (my FAVOURITE books!!! and ultraviolet and quicksilver, read them!!!, I've recommended them below!!!)) and it did, it is an amazing book, with action and mystery, and lots of other amazing things!!! i couldn't put the book down!! i have also read the other books in the series, and am now on The Kill Order and they all have the same amazing quality of writing, and the characters are described beautifully, so i can't wait until the movie comes out!!!! seriously read this book!!!!!
“WOW”
(Paperback)
I went to water stones a couple days ago three I recall. Nine people from my school and I won a free book. Which was so exciting as at my school a book is a god that only few people have the joy to experience. That's Oasis academy Silvertown. Anyway I absolutely loved the book beyond words. This book makes the hunger games feel like a walk in the park. The amount of twists this book has. I found my self crying at times especially when a special persons dies at the ending. At twelve I don't think I could have read anything more action packed for my age. Let's sum this up to three words. THRILLING. EXCRUCIATING. PAIN.

“Fantastically Brilliant.”
(Paperback)
The Maze Runner is the first book in the series by James Dashner. Set in the post-apocalyptic future Thomas awakens in an unfamiliar place remembering only his name. He finds himself alongside 50-60 other teenage boys (who call themselves Gladers) inside a purpose built community protected by a giant maze. Every night when the walls of the maze slide open Thomas and his companions risk everything to find an answer.
The first book in the series will definitely leave you wanting more!
I would recommend this book to anyone who particularly enjoys reading young adult/dystopian themes. Dashner captures each and every character brilliantly, with each playing an important role to the story. The character development over the series is also worth noting. (While I can't say too much about this without giving away spoilers, I will say my favourite character changed by the end of the series due to massive character development.)
In the book Dashner takes you on the journey with Thomas; a brave and curious young boy, and as you read his experiences you feel like you are there with him. The Maze Runner is set in a remarkable and unbelievable future yet you feel as though you are there with the characters through it all and are completely invested in their lives, and can't wait to see what happens next. The Maze Runner is a real page turner!!
Dashner's use of language is exceptional in the book. He creates a new "slang language" that the Gladers use and it is so realistic I found myself using these words in general conversation after reading it.
The book ends on a cliffhanger which even though was brilliant it was highly frustrating because I couldn't wait to read the Scorch Trials (book number two!!)
James Dashner completely topped my expectations with The Maze Runner, it is fantastically written in a fresh and compelling manner that leaves you wanting more. Ten out of ten a fantastic book with a brilliant story and a few twist and turns and tears and laughter along the way.
