I can happily read anything that Sarah Beth Durst writes! And I do like how sometimes authors go back and add to older stories, giving them a fresh look and introducing them to new readers. I loved The Lost! It has both so many feels and humor to offset it. Sometimes you need to lose yourself to find the way through hard times and that is just what Lauren Chase learns in this fantastical tale where lost things end up in towns, whether it be a sock, keys, or even a person. And in those towns you meet nice people, and crazy people, sometimes a mix of the both which certainly keeps things interesting as people work to find what they have lost so that the Missing Man can send them home. It is a very intriguing portrayal of lost things and how it all works, with the Missing Man, the Finder, and how tough it is to survive in a town perpetually surrounded by a sand storm that spits out lost things and feeds on despair. Both creepy sad and magical! Lauren was cool and I was impressed by how she rallied after finding herself stuck, mostly thanks to Claire and Peter, forming a new kind of family. Lots of feels there and all the stuff they go through, helping each other and finding solutions for the rest of the town too. I really enjoyed this story and I am glad I got the chance to read this new version. I also can't wait to see if there will be even more to the story. Fingers crossed!
