...for fans of Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent etc.

The Loop has properly "thrown me for a loop," it has definitely been my must read for 2020. Dystopian teen fiction, akin to The Hunger Games, it is completely addictive and shocking. This is the first book in a while that has stayed with me long after I have finished it. Roll on 2021 and The Block

This book is so good I want everyone to read it. I am not surprised it's already optioned for TV because it is so gripping. It zips along, at incredible speed but still lets you immerse yourself in its world and the emotional lives of the characters. It is peppered with humour in all the right places. I was blown away by Ben Oliver's ability to merge high octane thrills and a sci-fi nightmare world with soft feelings and regular teenage concerns like 'why does she like him and not me!!'. I defy anyone not to love this ragtag group of prisoners.

I really enjoyed this! As a 62 year old adult, I don’t think that I was target audience, but certainly the opening two- thirds kept me interested and entertained. I enjoyed the concept of ‘The Loop’ and the way the story unfolded kept me entertained almost to the end. The last section features just too many escapes from certain death, but I will still keep an eye out for the sequel. Recommended if you want and interesting (and quite light) read about a dystopia society who deal with subversion in draconian ways, particularly as the UK and the USA seem to be heading in this direction (at least I’ll know how to get out of The Loop when it is built here!) Bought online on a whim, but I’m glad I ordered it - recommended!.
