“A short read that leaves a lasting impression”
(Paperback)

During the summer I read three fantastic books from Barrington Stoke by Keith Gray back to back. I now consider Keith Gray as one of my favourite ya authors of all time Non spoilery review ⬇️ In The List it’s near the end of the summer and Denny is about to move away with his mum, as she’s got a better job. But he’s not going to leave quietly. He’s made a list of all the scores to settle and wrongs he wants to right before he leaves. He asks Jake his best friend for help. But Jake is gutted his best friend is leaving and worries about what life without him will be like. Of course Jake’s willing to help Denny with his List. But the list proves to be more powerful than they expected and will test their friendship. Will they be able to save their friendship before Denny leaves? Although this is a short novel written for a dyslexia friendly publication it definitely pack a punch and has certainty left a lasting impression on me. They cover a lot of hard hitting topics such as friendships, family life, moving home and betrayal. The author really knows how to write about teenage boys and their complicated lives. It felt very cinematic to me
