Reviews: The Kill Factor (2)
“Intense and addictive!”
(Paperback)
by Denise Gale
Thank you Chicken House for sending me a finished copy in exchange for an honest review. I read this so fast and absolutely loved it! Set in a futuristic dystopian reality where people rely on followers for brand credits more than money. We meet Emerson Ness who has no online presence and a Dad with an unsuccessful  online presence which results in them living below the ground with the poorest members of society. This situation sends Em in the wrong direction where she finds herself arrested and facing the possibility of time in prison, until someone comes along and offers her an alternative. She is given an opportunity to play a game where she will face several trials along with 50 other kids just like her and the winner gets to walk away with no prison sentence. Of course as is often the case with these things nothing is exactly as they seem and soon she finds herself fighting for survival! I loved this book it was fast paced and never let up and as a result i read it over a couple of days. Perfect if you like intense action similar to Hunger Games, Squid Games and Black MirrorIt. It explores themes around family, friendship and inequality but also serves as a warning about how exploitative reality TV can be as well as the pitfalls of social media and where it could be heading! I highly recommend this and there was hints of more to come so i am eagerly awaiting the sequel now!

I absolutely demolished this book, from start to finish I was hooked and could not put it down. I was rooting for Emerson from the mid way point and by the end has just left me wanting more!
