Reviews: The Fever Code (2)
“Amazing”
(Paperback)
by Amisha Patel
I am a huge fan of the maze runner books and really enjoyed the fever code, it is nothing like the other books and can be a complete shocker. Brilliant plot. Worth a read for all maze runner fans out there.
“Gripping”
(Hardback)
by Laura Turney
To say that James Dashner is a genius is simply not praise enough. This prequel story to how Thomas, Therasa and his friends got into the maze is equal parts sad and mesmerising. Of course we know what's going to happen in the end as the three Maze Runner books follow, but that doesn't stop Dashner putting a twist at the end. I found, as I did in the Maze Runner, Thomas's character engaging and as lovable a hero as Harry Potter, with Katniss Everdeen's fire mixed in. It kept me up reading far past my bed time and was simply my favourite birthday present this year. I wouldn't change a thing about this book as I believe that even though the ending was sad and wrought with betrayal, it made the tale far more credible to me, the lengths humans will go to for the greater good. You can be delighted that Chuck, Theresa, Minho, Alby and Newt are all included in this story. In my eyes Dashner is the H G Wells of the 21st century. He has a talent for telling you all the necessary elements of the story without pomp or parade, straight into the thick of it, which makes for a wonderful read. I loved this fresh vat of steaming escapism and I cannot recommend this book any more.
