Reviews: The Executioner (11)
“Epic read”
(Paperback)
Read this book a few years ago now but this book is still to this day one of my favourite reads, it doesn't give away who the murder is to soon into the book, it's very well detailed to keep you turning the page and to read more. I really enjoyed this book and I've past this onto a friend and would recommend to many other people who love a good page turner.
“A brilliant crime thriller”
(Hardback)
This is the second in the Robert Hunter series & what a graphic dark read it is. I very rarely give trigger warnings but, as brilliant as this book is, it does contain detailed gory descriptions of ritualistic murders. You have been warned.
Robert Hunter & his partner, Carlos Garcia, are called to a church, in the lead up to Christmas, because the priest has been found dead on the premises. It seems overly violent & obvious that the manner of death was significant to the killer & the victim too, hence why the specialist duo are called in. Other deaths occur & although the MO is different in each case, it appears that they are connected. Running parallel to this investigation other killings are happening, all with the same MO as each other. But why?
I loved this book. No superfluous waffle or words added to just get the count up. A fast paced thriller set against an insidious evil that occurs the whole world over, although not all react like The Executioner. Highly recommended.
“Bloody fantastic read”
(Hardback)
A true page turner. You just don't know what's going to happen next. With a lot of books of this sort I can usually work out 'whodoneit' longe before the end. This one had me stuck and the 'perp' was a big surprise. I must warn those of a nervous disposition that this is a very gruesome read. Some of the punishment inflicted couldn't be made up and led me to wonder whether the author had actually committed the crimes he was writing about :-) A couple of questions though, 1) do all the residents of L.A. say "wanna" and "gonna" for want to and going to? Because all the characters in this book seem to; and 2) do his characters really have to say "you're bullshitting me" for "you're kidding"? I haven't read The Crucifix Killer, Carter's first book, but it's on my list!
“Awesome Book!”
(Hardback)
This book is, one hell of an awesome read! If you read Crucifix Killer and liked that, you'll definitely enjoy this one more!
It is more gruesome, but hey hum!
I really do recommend this book :) It's such a gripping read, I read it in 2 days because I just couldn't put it down!
“This Is How You Do A Sequel”
(Paperback)
4.5 stars Chris Carter has done it again, and it was better than the first. Super fast paced, with some seriously twisted deaths. I really liked the aspect the killer was killing their victims based on their fears. Lightning fast, super readable and twisted in the way on Chris Carter can do.
