Reviews: The Escape (1)
“A Fantastic Thriller”
(Paperback)
The Escape is the third book in the John Puller series was originally published in 2014 by David Baldacci. The series seems to be going from strength to strength and really is a delight to read.
Robert Puller is still in the military stockade at Fort Leavenworth, and he is facing the rest of his life behind bars as a traitor. He can hear a storm raging outside while he is sat in his cell not that he can see it, but the lights go out and the cell doors open. Puller takes advantage of this and escapes in to the night.
John Puller is informed that his brother has escaped from Leavenworth, and he is not allowed to be anywhere near the investigation or the manhunt. Puller faces a dilemma to his brother and to his country. He attends a meeting with a three-star general, a one-star from the air force and a CIA agent they give him permission to look into what has gone on and bring his brother in.
As Puller begins his investigation, he finds plenty of questions and not many answers but he does acquire the assistance of Veronica Knox a CIA agent and he does not know whose agenda he is addressing. The more they dig into his brother’s case; the more smoke and mirrors seem to appear. When they meet one of the witnesses against his brother, they see that she something to hide and are not sure what.
Baldacci has created a story of depth, exciting and created a compelling story. Well worth reading.
