Reviews: The Diviner's Tale (1)
“Good fiction, hard to categorise”
(Hardback)
This is not a love story, unless you count Cassandra's love for her father and sons. Yes, there is some love interest for her but that's not the main story at all. I got half way through this book and did wonder whether anything was actually going to happen, just seemed to be about how tricky it was being a diviner in the country in upstate New York, and dealing with people's prejudices. I did enjoy the way the story developed - by taking you back into her life to give you information bit by bit about what happened before, so you can make sense of the story.
This isn't a crime novel really either, although that is the main plot line - certainly didn't feel cat and mouse or that suspenseful - but lots of good bits.
Would have liked to give 3 1/2 stars really.
