“Excellent story it gave me the creeps”

Cat a routine fraud investigator had sinister things happening to her, she was threatened by an organised crime syndicate where dead animals were left on her door step and her car was spray painted with warnings on. Once the guilty ones were sent to jail, Cat decided to move away to another country for her own safety. Cat moves away to Edinburgh. Tucked away and out of sight, everything seemed going splendidly in her new flat, until she has trouble with the devil upstairs. This story gave me the creeps that’s why I recommend it, after all there’s nothing like a suspenseful novel.

I loved this book. As regular followers may be aware I am drawn by covers more than descriptions.... I was immediately drawn to this cover and as I had recently moved into an upper flat where I was concerned about the noise being herd in the flat below I was keen to read this book. I do not make any noise like is described in this book - I have carpets and remove shoes as soon as I enter the flat..... admittedly after reading I am now walking around even less and being even more aware of noise! On to the story... Have you ever wished someone dead? Have you ever felt hatred towards someone so much that it is a recurring thought in your head? That is exactly what happens to Cat in this story. Cat's new start in Edinburgh has been soured by her noisy neighbour above. Cat's colleague suggests a way of dealing with this and thats when things take a satanic twist... I found this to be an interesting read. The author has an easy enjoyable writing style and the story had a good pace. It is a thriller with a very different theme to anything else I have read recently. I read it in less than a day as I was completely entertained and needed to know what would happen. I would recommend this as an enjoyable quick and easy read. My sincere thanks to A Love of Books Facebook Group, Black and White Publishing and Anthony O'Neill for a copy of ‘The Devil Upstairs’ by Anthony O'Neill. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway. All my reviews can be found on my blog momobookdiary

Have you ever hated someone so much that you have spent nights just imagining ways for them to die? That’s what Cat has been doing. She moved to Edinburgh to start a new life, a peaceful life, but the tenant upstairs just won’t allow it. Fed up of the lack of sleep and thoughtlessness of said tenant, Cat finds herself asking for help from an unexpected source. She soon learns that by doing so, it has some very dangerous consequences. The Devil Upstairs follows fraud investigator Cat as she adjusts to her new life in Scotland and the aftermath of her interactions with some satanic followers. The story is fun and easy to read and kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish. All the characters were very likeable and I found myself wanting to see a happy outcome for each of them. The only thing I found slightly frustrating is when a character was answering a question they never seemed to provide a straight answer just beat about the bush for a while, think a politician trying to avoid answering a question. Other than that it was enjoyable. I finished the book within a couple of days and I was left with no unanswered questions and found it to have a nice little twist too. I enjoyed the writing style, pace, and the plot so much I would happily read more books from this author. A nice thriller that was certainly different from the norm.
“Scary Title for Halloween!”

Good story expertly plotted. It was set in Edinburgh but had one or two inconsistencies which distracted from the pacy story. Didn’t see where this was going so great attention holding tale. Writing style also slightly inconsistent with a mix of Scottish colloquialisms mixed with jarring americanisms. Good read.
