The brilliant sequel to Robert Ryan's first Dr Watson mystery finds our hero returned from the Western Front where he is recruited to find out what has happened to a group of soldiers, most of whom have been killed, at a secret location in the Norfolk countryside. There are side plots involving German spies, along with the return of favourite characters from the first book. The story is pacey and thrilling, and there is a surprising twist at the end which left me wanting more.
