This is a fascinating book. For me it brings back happy memories of when I worked in independent film production in the UK. At that time Wardour Street felt like the centre of the universe. Michael Armstrong began a hugely successful career in the British Film Industry, now spanning some seven decades, in the 1960s. Eventually released in the UK with the title 'The Haunted House of Horror' in 1969 this book also contains the complete original screenplay written in 1960. In the 1960s Tigon Pictures became one of the major rivals of Hammer Films producing several successful horror films that are now regarded as cult classics. Rather cheekily they operated from offices in Hammer House in Wardour Street and Michael Armstrong is very much a part of their success story. This book is full of fascinating insights into how independent film producers operated in the late 1960s as the British Film Industry went into a sharp decline and cinema admissions plummeted. It is also the story of one young man - Michael Armstrong - beating the odds and forging ahead with a successful career in the industry.
