Reviews: The Catch (28)
“A great end to the series”
(Paperback)

This was such a nice end to Lea’s Influencer series. I love a small town romance and this really ticked all the boxes for that. Fisherman, an inn, forced proximity, and a bonus fake engagement. I liked Mel and could relate to her in a lot of ways and enjoyed her character arc as a whole. I also really liked Evan. His grumpiness and the gentle softening of him as he navigated his fake relationship with Mel was so sweet. I also liked how the third act played out. It was a little heartbreaking and I did just want them to magically sort out all their issues, but the more realistic option was taken and I liked the growth that it allowed for both characters. I loved Cora’s Cove so much and Evan and Mel were a great couple to fall in love with there.
“Huge “The Proposal” Vibes- cute and easy rom com”

This was a cute and quick palette cleanser. If you enjoy small town romances, forced proximity and fake-dating you will eat this up! I found the FMC, Mel, difficult to get on with just because her personality is stubborn to the point of stupidity and spite, but as she kind of acknowledges these problems herself it was enjoyable to see her ease up and learn to feel emotions. I enjoyed the banter and relationship between her and the Whalers, and I thought it was great to see the MMC, Evan, also open up as a character after initially being the surly grump. This book gave me MASSIVE 'The Proposal vibes, so it was impossible for me to dislike tbh k) Even though I didn't realise this book was the third in a series, I don't think not knowing this spoiled anything for me, and I'm looking forward to reading Amy Lea's other books.
“Another wonderful addition to the series.”

REVIEW cw: grief, anxiety, mention of depression, abandonment issues, adoption, mention of death When a booking error causes fashion influencer Melanie Karlsen to end up in a small town in Nova Scotia, she immediately butts heads with grumpy fisherman Evan Whaler. When Evan takes her out on his boat, disaster strikes, and Mel pretends to be his fiancée, the lies begin to spiral, but soon neither is sure what they were ever lying about. I have loved this series by Amy Lea, and although this one took a little longer to really get into, I absolutely loved Mel and Evan together. One of my favourite book boyfriend types is the big, seemingly-grumpy-but-actually-cinnamon-roll man. Evan is exactly that, and I really loved the little ways he showed how much he cared about Mel and his family. I also loved how open he was with his emotions. I empathised with Mel and her backstory, and I really loved the development of their dynamic, from snarky to sweet (and especially the star-rating banter). There were lots of great supporting characters to enjoy, from catching up with Tara, Crystal, and their significant others, to new additions like the Whaler family, and Mel's brother. I adored Lucy immediately and loved Nana Whaler. And I cackled at Ian, Mel's lovesick neighbour. I'm not a fan of third-act break-ups, but it made sense, and I really loved the resolution. And the epilogue was adorable. Another wonderful addition to the series. Overall Rating: ❤❤❤❤.5 Heat Rating:
