I didn't know what to expect when I bought this book on a whim, but I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. Schechter combines the comedic misfortune of Nersesian's 'The **** Up' with a subversive plot that has parallels with G.K. Chesteron's 'The Man They Call Thursday'. The prose and dialogue is first rate and the protagonist Parker is superbly fleshed out, meaning you empathise with and root for him. A truly enjoyable, high brow, farce.
