From the beginning, you feel invested in the characters and the world they live in. Some aspects of this story are her dark but the author keeps your attention right till the end.

This book took a moment to get into, but once you do it is a very delicately interwoven tale of the pains of forbidden love, and even more so of that that is unrequited. A brilliant and well written story.

I requested a proof copy of this book because I was immediately engaged by the intriguing and highly original premise: if you could erase your pain, shame, or grief by sealing memories away in books, even if it meant a bit of your spirit died with it, would you do it? I knew I would enjoy ‘The Binding’ from that description alone, but I was not in the least prepared for how much more than that it would be, nor how much I would love it. Cliché as it sounds, I really couldn’t put it down. From the very first pages, all I wanted to do was read, all day, every day, until I had finished it, but at the same time I dreaded it ever coming to an end. ‘The Binding’ is truly a phenomenal, magical, all-consuming novel of the kind that only comes around once in a blue moon, with spellbinding storytelling and fantastically rich characterisation. The slow-burning plot only added to the anticipation of what was to come, and resulted in a highly rewarding read with an emotional pay-off which will stay with me for a long time. This book is utter perfection, inside and out, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. After reading the synopsis I thought it would be similar to The Silent Companions or The Corset - it wasn’t, but I was not disappointed. I really got drawn in by the characters, would definitely recommend this to anyone

This is going to be a difficult review for me due to the fact that I absolutely loved the book and I’m probably not going to make it justice with a written review. Truth to be told, one of my colleagues recommended it after she finished it, and now we have nearly all read it. And loved it. This is a world where you can forget thought, memories and experiences. You have to go and see a binder, out of your own free will, who will extract those memories and bind them in a book with your name. You’ll absolutely forget what has been bound, even that you’ve been to see a binder, unless the book is destroyed when you will regain all those lost memories. As a concept, that is more than enough to get me interested into the book but this is only the beginning. However, be warned, the beginning can be a little slow. It’s a build up, you start reading and getting yourself immersed into the story and when you realize it it’s too late and you are beyond invested. For me it was at the beginning of part 2 where I could not let go. Until then it was a very original, but slow, story. Once part 2 started I deemed sleep overrated and kept reading until the end. I don’t want to give away anything at all, so you can enjoy it at it’s fullest but if you thought the best thing of this book is the plot and worldbuilding, think again. The best thing are the characters and their development. I can honestly visualize this as a BBC series. I cannot wait for you all to be able to read it and exchange ideas.
